What is an analog optical transceiver?

The analog optical transceiver is a kind of optical transceiver, which mainly adopts analog frequency modulation, amplitude modulation, and phase modulation to modulate the baseband video, audio, data and other signals on a certain carrier frequency, and transmits it through the transmitting optical transceiver. Transmitted optical signal: The optical signal emitted by the analog optical transceiver is an analog optical modulation signal, which changes the amplitude, frequency, and phase of the optical signal with the amplitude, frequency, and phase of the input analog carrier signal. So, what is an analog optical transceiver? What are the advantages and disadvantages of analog optical transceivers? Please follow JHA TECH to learn about the analog optical transceiver.

The analog optical transceiver uses PFM modulation technology to transmit image signals in real time. The transmitting end performs PFM modulation on the analog video signal, and then performs electrical-optical conversion. After the optical signal is transmitted to the receiving end, it performs photoelectric conversion, and then performs PFM demodulation to recover the video signal. Due to the use of PFM modulation technology, its transmission distance can reach 50Km or more. Through the use of wavelength division multiplexing technology, the two-way transmission of image and data signals can also be realized on a single optical fiber to meet the actual needs of monitoring projects.

Advantages of analog optical transceiver:
The signal transmitted in the optical fiber is an analog optical signal, which is cheap and more commonly used.

Disadvantages of analog optical transceiver:
a) Production debugging is more difficult;
b) It is difficult for a single optical fiber to realize multi-channel image transmission, and the performance will be reduced. This kind of analog optical transceiver can generally only transmit 4 channels of images on a single optical fiber;
c) Poor anti-interference ability, greatly affected by environmental factors, and temperature drift;
d) Because the analog modulation and demodulation technology is adopted, its stability is not high enough. As the use time increases or the environmental characteristics change, the performance of the optical transceiver will also change, which will bring some inconvenience to the engineering use.
